BEFORE MAINE: Played baseball at Scarborough High School for coach Jim Cronin... was team captain as a junior and senior... batted .548 with 5 home runs and 24 RBI... had an 0.88 ERA with a 7-1 record on the mound... struck out 67 batters in 48 innings... named Maine's Mr. Baseball, the Maine Gatorade Player of the Year, and Maine's Louisville Slugger Player of the Year in 2009... named first team all-state... named first team all-conference at first base and pitcher... led team to the 2009 Western Maine Final... also played basketball in high school... born Sept. 17, 1991... son of Carl and Rhonda Bernard... sister, Lindsay, plays softball at St. Michael's College... a business major.
