Bella Swan
Bella Swan (Farmington, Ut.) averaged 14.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in two wins for the Black Bears. Swan dropped 12 points and seven rebounds at Vermont before notching a career-high 16 points with eight boards against UMBC. Swan went 12-for-20 from the floor and added four blocks.

Kevin Little
Kevin Little (Wyandanch, N.Y.) averaged 22.0 points and 4.0 assists in a pair of Black Bear wins. Little dropped 20 with four assists and three rebounds against Quinnipiac before tallying 24 points, hitting a career-high six 3-pointers, in a win over Brown. For the week, Little shot 50% from the floor, 50% from three and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

Sigi Koizar
Sigi Koizar (Vienna, Austria) bested the 20 point plateau for the fifth time this season when she notched 21 points at North Carolina. Koizar, who scored Maine's last eight points down the stretch in the heartbreaking loss, also tallied eight rebounds and seven assists.

Kevin Little
Kevin Little (Wyandanch, N.Y.) averaged 18.5 points in two games for the Black Bears. Little matched a career-high scoring effort with 25 points at Fordham after going 9-for-15 from the floor with four 3-pointers. Little also tallied a career-high four steals at Fordham. Little followed the 25 point effort up with a 12 point showing at Holy Cross. Little has now tallied double-figures in scoring in nine of Maine's 11 games.

Sigi Koizar
Sigi Koizar (Vienna, Austria) averaged 17.0 points in a pair of games for the Women's Basketball team. Koizar poured in 25 points on 9-for-13 shooting with a trio of 3-pointers and four assists in Maine's commanding win over Clemson. The junior guard added a nine point effort at Purdue. Koizar has scored 20+ in four games this season and posted double-figures in 12 of the first 14 games. Koizar currently ranks fourth in the league in scoring (17.0 ppg).

Devine Eke (Plainfield, N.J.) continued to fill the stat line as he recorded six points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two assists at Boston College. Eke currently leads the America East in field goal percentage (66.2%) and ranks sixth nationally in the category.

Sigi Koizar
Sigi Koizar (Vienna, Austria) posted double-figure scoring marks in three games for the Black Bears, averaging 15.7 points per game, 3.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists. Koizar, who shot 52.9% from 3-point range, tallied 16 points in a win over Colby and a road game at Northeastern before closing the week with a 15 points performance in Maine's victory at Dartmouth.

Matt Morris (Ridgewood, N.J.) helped lead the Black Bears to a weekend sweep of the Princeton Tigers. Morris has started in four straight games which has resulted in a four game Black Bear winning streak.

Micah Wright (Newark, N.Y.) earned CAA Football Rookie of the Week honors after achieving career-highs in receptions (9), receiving yards (198) and touchdowns (2) against Elon. Wright's first touchdown came on a 60-yard catch and run, the longest reception of his career.

Nicole Sevey (Skowhegan, Maine) was selected to America East First Team All-Conference and lead the Black Bears to America East Playoff wins against California and Stanford.

Alyson Matteau
Alyson Matteau (Mirabel, Quebec) scored the game winner against Providence on Friday night in a 2-1 OT thriller. She also had two assists against Vermont on Sunday. Matteau was named Hockey East Rookie of the week as well.

Brooke Stacey (Kahnawake, Que.) helped lead the women's ice hockey team to a weekend sweep of Brown. Stacey had a goal and an assist on Friday before notching her third goal of the year in Saturday's win. Stacey finished the weekend +3 and won 23 of the 34 face-offs she was in.

Trevor Bates (Westbrook, Maine) was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week after recording seven tackles, two tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks in a win over Stony Brook. Bates also returned a fumble 34-yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter; his second defensive touchdown of his career.

Audra Richards (Maplewood, Minn.) tallied four-goals in the opening weekend, earning her WHEA Co-Player of the Week Honors. Richards opened the year with a hat trick in a 4-0 win at New Hampshire before adding a goal against #8 Boston University.

ORONO, Maine -- Danielle Aviani (Surrey, British Columbia) had a six game goal scoring streak and scored five total points this week. Aviani had three points against Quinnipiac and two against Sienna both resulting in wins.

Micah Wright (Newark, N.Y.) hauled in a game-high eight catches for 107-yards in Saturday evening's football contest at Tulane. The receptions and yards were both career highs for Wright who went over the 100-yard mark for the first time in his career at Maine.

Jesse Orach (Gorham, Maine) placed fourth out of 91 runners at the UMass Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Orach finished the 6k event in 19:46 and helped lead the Black Bears to a third place showing.

Danielle Aviani (Surrey, British Columbia) tallied two goals and added an assist in a pair of field hockey matches. Aviani assisted on Maine's second goal against Hofstra before tallying the game-winner later on. On Sunday, Aviani netted Maine's only goal against No. 20 Boston University.

Randy Samuels (Bronx, N.Y.) led Maine's football defense in Saturday's season-opener at Boston College. The Black Bears limited Boston College to just 10 points through three quarters while Samuels had a team-high tying six tackles, including his first sack of the year.

Anetra Byfield (Brampton, Ontario) scored her first career goal in a 2-0 victory over Rhode Island. Byfield's goal came at 57:42 and padded Maine's lead on its way to a third-straight win to move to 3-0 on the season.

Sydney Veljacic (Coquitlam, British Columbia) tallied four goals in a pair of Maine field hockey wins over the weekend. Veljacic found the back of the cage twice in Maine's 5-1 season opening victory over La Salle before scoring both Black Bear goals in a 2-0 shutout over Holy Cross.

Charlene Achille (Longueuil, Que.) scored the first goal of the season for the Black Bears which proved to be the game-winner in a 1-0 decision over Fairfield. Achille finished the weekend with 10 total shots, leading Maine to a pair of victories.

Claudia Dube-Trempe (Chambly, Que.) tallied a pair of shutouts to lead Maine to a 2-0-0 start to the season. Dube-Trempe finished the weekend with nine saves, including a seven-save shutout win over Fordham.

America East Announces 2014-15 Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll
Boston, Massachusetts -- Sixth-three percent of America East student-athletes who competed in winter or spring sports during the 2014-15 academic year have earned America East Honor Roll distinction. 1,331 total student-athletes maintained a GPA of 3.00 or higher, and from that total, over 51 percent earned Commissioner’s Honors Roll status, completing the spring semester with a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Maine Finishes Third in 2015 America East Academic Cup Standings
ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine student-athletes competing in the America East Conference posted a 3.21 cumulative grade point average this year to finish third in the 2015 America East Academic Cup standings. The women’s basketball team, the 2015 America East co-regular season champion, led all women’s basketball squads with a 3.39 GPA. They were one of just three teams to win a championship and finish with the highest GPA in their respective sport.

Holly Stewart (North Vancouver, British Columbia) was named the 2015 America East Woman of the Year at the annual America East Awards banquet on Tuesday, June 2 in Bretton Woods, N.H. Stewart is the first Maine student-athlete to be named America East Woman of the Year. She will now be put forth for NCAA Woman of the Year consideration.

Justin Courtney (Bangor, Maine) was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American last week. He was one of four student-athletes from America East to receive the honor. Courtney finished 5-6 on the season with a team-best 3.24 ERA.

Holly Stewart Named 2015 America East Woman of the Year
BRETTON WOODS, N.H. – University of Maine standout Holly Stewart (North Vancouver, British Columbia) of the field hockey team was named the 2015 America East Woman of the Year at the annual conference meetings on Tuesday night. She becomes the first Maine student-athlete to be named America East Woman of the Year, which was established in 2006.

Alexander Parenteau
Alexander Parenteau (North Yarmouth, Maine) placed 26th in the javelin at the 2015 NCAA East Regional over the weekend in Jacksonville, Fla. He recorded a throw of 209'6" (63.86m). Parenteau finished second in the javelin at the 2015 America East Championships and third at the IC4A Championship. He set a PR at the IC4A with a throw of 216'8" (66.04m).

Robyn McFetters
Robyn McFetters (Barrington, R.I.) placed 30th in the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Fla. over the weekend in the hammer throw. She recorded a throw of 178'7" (54.45m). McFetters had an outstanding season, winning the America East and New England Championships. She finished second at the Penn Relays with a personal record of 198'5" (60.50m) that set the Maine school record.

Luke Morrill (South Thomaston, Maine) led the Black Bears at the 2015 America East Tournament. He hit .556 for Maine with a pair of doubles and a RBI. Morrill was named to the America East First Team, the NEIBA First Team and the America East All-Tournament Team last week. He finished his senior season leading Maine with a .367 batting average.

Women's Cross Country Honored for APR Score
ORONO, Maine -- The NCAA has honored more than 1,100 Division I sports teams for top scores in the classroom. The University of Maine women's cross courtry team was among the 1,124 teams honored. Based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate, these teams have earned NCAA Public Recognition Awards for posting scores in the top 10 percent of their sport.

Wilson Adams (Barrington, R.I.) and Scott Wilson (Scarborough, Maine) were honored on the men’s side, while Jaclyn Masters (Auburn, Maine) and Shannon O’Neil (Milan, N.H.) were honored on the women’s side.

Alexander Parenteau (North Yarmouth, Maine) placed third at the IC4A Championships in the javelin throw over the weekend. His throw of 216'08" ranks as the second best throw in Maine history. Parenteau qualified for the NCAA Regionals over the weekend with his performance.

Jaclyn Masters (Auburn, Maine) broke her own school record as she cleared 12'04" in the pole vault at the 2015 ECAC Championships this past weekend in Princeton, N.J. She placed 10th in the event.

Katy Massey, Holly Stewart and Devin Shore Named to Academic All-District First Team
ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine had three student-athletes named to the 2014-15 Academic All-District At-Large First Teams on Thursday, May 14, 2015. Katy Massey (Waterville Maine) and Holly Stewart (North Vancouver, British Columbia) were named on the women’s side, while Devin Shore (Ajax, Ontario) received honors on the men’s side. They will all three be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration.

ORONO, Maine – University of Maine men’s and women’s swimming team had three student-athletes inducted into honor societies recently. Victoria Kingston (Bradford, Ontario) and Marsha Pominova (Bedford, Mass.) were selected to the Sophomore Eagles, while Berkay Payal (Kocaeli, Turkey) was inducted into the Sophomore Owls.

Ashley Donohoe (Huntington Beach, Calif.) won the discus at the 2015 New England Championships last weekend in Boston, Mass. Her throw of 138'06" (42.22m) was tops among the 22 competitors.

Kevin Stypulkowski
Kevin Stypulkowski (Lake Worth, Flla.) hit .556 for the baseball team last week en route to Maine's 3-0 week. He scored four runs and had six RBI. Stypulkowski hit two doubles and two home runs. He finished the week with a .636 on-base percentage and a 1.444 slugging percentage. He earned America East Player of the Week honors.

Scott Heath (Westbrook, Maine) had a standout week for the Maine baseball team. He hit .481 with 10 runs scored and eight RBI en route to America East Player of the Week honors. He had four home runs in Maine's four-game weekend series at NYIT. He also picked up a win on the mound on Saturday, striking out a career-high 11 batters in the game.

Alexis Bogdanovich (South Portland, Maine) was named America East Pitcher of the Week for the fifth time after she recorded all three wins in the circle for the Black Bears over the weekend. The senior did not give up a run over 11.1 innings, scattering just three hits while striking out 22 and walking just one.

Maine's senior hurler recorded her 10th win of the season in a complete game, three-hitter against Stony Brook on Saturday.

EmJ Fogel (Vienna, Va.) helped guide the University of Maine softball team to a three-game series sweep at UMass Lowell. Fogel began the weekend with six-straight hits and completed her showing at .583 (7-for-12) with three RBI, two doubles and two runs scored. In the opener, Fogel went 4-for-4 and scored two runs before posting a 2-for-4 showing with a pair of RBI in game two.

ORONO, Maine – University of Maine track and field standouts Wilson Adams (Barrington, Rhode Island) and Jaclyn Masters (Auburn, Maine) have been named to the 2015 America East Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team. Adams is a senior thrower, while Masters is a junior pole vaulter.

Naja Harvey and Kailey Dowd Named to America East All-Academic Team
BOSTON, Mass. – University of Maine swimming standouts Naja Harvey (Orono, Minnesota) and Kailey Dowd (Mendon, Mass.) have been named to the 2015 America East Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team. Harvey was one of two unanimous selections named to the squad this year.

Scott Heath (Westbrook, Maine) belted a three-run home run in Maine's game at Hartford on Saturday afternoon. He also had a RBI in the eighth inning to finish the game with a season-high four runs batted in. Heath also got the start on the mound for the Black Bears in the game.

Sigi Koizar
Sigi Koizar (Vienna, Austria) scored a game-high 22 points in the Women's Basketball WNIT loss at Villanova. Koizar rejuvenated Maine's offense, scoring all 22 of her points in the second half after going 8-for-12 from the floor, including a 2-for-3 night from behind the arc. Koizar, who was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line, added three rebounds in the contest. Koizar's 20+ scoring performance was the sixth of the year for the sophomore.

Alexis Bogdanovich Garners Third America East Pitcher of the Week Award
University of Maine softball pitcher Alexis Bogdanovich (South Portland, Maine) has been named the America East Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.

Brett Chappell
Brett Chappell (Rock Falls, Ill.) led the baseball team to a 4-1 record last week in Florida. He hit .450 with five runs scored and nine RBI. He had a double and belted his first home run as a Black Bear in Maine's win against Bowling Green. In the game against the Illinois State, he twice tied the game with clutch runs batted in, including in the bottom of the ninth inning. He finished with a .650 slugging percentage and a .500 on base percentage on the week.

Felicia Lennon
Felicia Lennon (Brookfield, Conn.) hit .458 in eight games for the University of Maine softball team while adding her first home run of the spring. Lennon, who leads Maine in batting average, went 11-for-24 over the week while scoring five runs, driving in four and stealing three bags. Lennon slugged .625 and added a .517 on-base percentage while racking up 10 putouts and 19 assists.

Jaclyn Masters (Auburn, Maine) set a school record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.85 meters. Masters placed sixth overall in the ECAC Indoor Championships, Saturday at Boston University.

Shane Bussey
Shane Bussey (Boynton Beach, Fla.) led the Maine baseball team last week with a .526 batting average. He had scored six runs and drove in six. He had a pair of doubles to go along with a triple. Bussey finished the week witha .615 on-base percentage and a .737 slugging percentage. Bussey earned America East Player of the Week honors for his performance.

Women's Basketball Tops Binghamton in America East Quarterfinal, 78-71
The University of Maine women's basketball team led by 13 on three separate occasions and fought off multiple runs by Binghamton but were able to hold on in the end, defeating the Bearcats 78-71 in America East Quarterfinal action.

Alexis Bogdanovich
Alexis Bogdanovich (South Portland, Maine) picked up a pair of victories in the circle for the University of Maine softball team. Bogdanovich gave up just two runs in 13 innings while striking out 15. In game one, Bogdanovich surrendered two runs on three hits while striking out eight in a victory over Middle Tennessee. Bogdanovich tossed a three hit shutout while fanning seven in Maine's win over Illinois-Chicago.

Nicholas Sundquist
ORONO, Maine -- Nicholas Sundquist (Windham, Maine) set three individual school records and was part of a record-setting relay team at the 2015 ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships over the weekend. Sundquist set the 100-yard freestyle record in 46.13. The previous record had stood for 30 years. He set the 200-yard freestyle record after posting a 1:39.86 and also set the 200-yard IM record of 1:50.57. He was also part the 200-yard medley relay team that set the school record in 1:32.14.

Maine Places Highest Percent of Student-Athletes on 2014 America East Fall Academic Honor Roll
Boston, Massachusetts -- The America East Conference released its 2014 fall academic honor roll and Thursday with nearly two-thirds of all student-athletes received recognition. There were 694 student-athletes named to the America East Academic Honor Roll for achieving a 3.0 grade point average or higher, with more than 400 student-athletes named to the America East Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for achieving a 3.50 grade point average or better.

Devin Shore
Devin Shore (Ajax, Ontario) had two goals and two assists for four points, including the 100th point of his career, in Maine's 6-3 win over Northeastern on Saturday night. Shore picked up an assist on Nolan Vesey's (North Reading, Mass.) scored goal of the game to record his 100th career point. He then scored the eventual game-winning goal midway through the second period. He added an empty net goal as Maine earned the 6-3 win. Shore has 33 goals and 69 assists for 102 points in 105 career games.

Grace MacLean (Bangor, Maine) placed third in the pentathlon at the 2015 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships. She won the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump events, while finishing second in the high jump. She finished with 3416 points, good enough for fifth place on Maine's all-time pentathlon list.

He scored the game-winning goal and dished out an assist in Maine's 5-3 win on Saturday night. Peter Tirabassi (Lewiston, Maine) of the men's swimming team had an outstanding performance at the Wheaton Invite, qualifying for the ECAC Championships in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. He won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:00.60 and touched first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:13.34. In addition, he was part of Maine's first-place 200-yard medley relay team with a time of 1:37.57. He captured fifth in the 200-yard IM in 2:03.03.

ORONO, Maine--The University of Maine announced on Thursday that 268 student-athletes will be honored and recognized for their success in the classroom at the Scholar-Athlete Recognition ceremony on Monday, Feb. 9, 2015. One-hundred eighty seven student-athletes will be recognized as Scholar-Athletes for achieving a 3.0 or better grade point average for the 2014 year and/or having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
