ORONO, Maine – University of Maine track and field standouts Wilson Adams (Barrington, Rhode Island) and Jaclyn Masters (Auburn, Maine) have been named to the 2015 America East Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team. Adams is a senior thrower, while Masters is a junior pole vaulter.
Wilson was a unanimous selection to the America East All-Academic Team. He is Maine's record holder in both the weight throw at 64'6.5" and the hammer throw with a mark of 191'9". Both records that he broke had been in the books for 50 years. He is a multi-time America East Champion in the weight throw. He placed third in the 2015 America East Championships in the weight throw.
Adams, who was the 2015 recipient of the M Club Dean Smith Award, has been named to the America East All-Academic Team four times. He has received a double gold medal as a four-time Maine Scholar-Athlete Award winner. He has also been named to the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. Adams is a bioengineering major with a minor in physics and plans to pursue PhD studies.
Masters set the school record in the pole vault at the 2015 ECAC Championship as she cleared 3.85 meters or 12'6" to place sixth. She placed fifth in the 2015 America East Championships in the pole vault as she cleared 3.45 or 11'03.75.
Masters, a nursing major, is a two-time Maine Scholar-Athlete Award winner and has been named to the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
The University of Maine is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2015. In conjunction with this, the athletic department will celebrate 150 student-athletes achievements over the next year.
