ORONO, Maine – Behind goals from
Abby Kraemer and
Kayla Kraemer, the University of Maine women's soccer team defeated Binghamton, 2-1, in the America East opener on Sunday afternoon at Mahaney Diamond.
The Black Bears earned the first win by either team in the series since 2019 with the victory.Â

After dribbling into the box and earning a penalty kick from a Binghamton handball,
Abby Kraemer converted from the spot for a 1-0 lead six minutes into the game. It took until the 82nd minute for the Black Bears to score again.
Jordane Pinette flew down the right flank and beat a defender on the end line before slotting a ball back for a
Kayla Kraemer deflection at the near post.

The Bearcats would respond two minutes later but the Black Bears held on for the win.Â

- Maine had the 9-8 lead in shots … Binghamton had a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.
- The Bearcats had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
- Goalkeeper Jessica Kasacek finished with four saves for Maine in moving to 4-1-2 on the year.
