Orono, ME - The University of Maine field hockey program dropped the opening contest of the 2023 regular season against #17 Boston College, 3-1.
Boston College scored the first three goals of the contest as Peyton Hale, Margo Carlin and Mia Garber all scored.
Mallory Mackesy tallied the first score of the season for the Black Bears and first goal on the new field as she scored with 30 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Zoe Furber (1) picked up the assist on the score.
Mallory Drayer and Jayde Temby combined for 2 saves in net for the Black Bears.
Maine (0-1) remains in Orono as they take on Providence College on Sunday, Aug. 27. Game time is scheduled for 1 P.M.
