A native son, Woodcock was born and raised in Farmington, Maine. He graduated from UMaine in 1999 with a degree in Mass Communication earning Magna cum laude honors. He captained the University of Maine Golf Team and was an all-conference collegiate soccer player for a semester at the University of Maine at Farmington. After graduation, Woodcock was a Legislative Aide to Maine Senate President Rick Bennett, working in the 120th Maine State Legislature. Just prior to joining the University of Maine, Woodcock served for nearly a decade as a Major Gift Officer for Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was one of the lead fundraisers for capital expansions to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, Spring Harbor Hospital and endowed scholarship support of the Maine Medical Center and Tufts “Maine Track” medical school program.
In 2012 Woodcock returned to his alma mater and was named the Associate Athletic Director for Development. In the fall of 2013, President Paul Ferguson appointed Woodcock interim Athletic Director after Steve Abbott returned to work as Chief of Staff for Senator Susan Collins. Woodcock was tasked with addressing several priorities during his interim role including staff and budget management, strategic planning and donor development. He served on the search committee for current AD Jude Killy, former Athletic Directors Ken Ralph and Karlton Creech, and football and basketball and baseball coaching search committee's. He has served on various volunteer boards and committee’s including the University of Maine Alumni Association, the Downeast Lakes Land Trust in Washington County and he co-chaired the campaign for Leib Field in support of the UMF soccer program. He holds his CFRE accreditation as a Certified Fundraising Executive and is a member of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD).
Woodcock and his wife, Liz reside in Windham with their daughters Lily and Alexis and their son John. Woodcock is an avid outdoorsman and often enjoys all Maine has to offer with his father, Chandler Woodcock, the former Commissioner of Maine’s Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Woodcock serves as the sport administrator for men's ice hockey and football.
