ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine field hockey team defeated the Stonehill Skyhawks, 4-0, on Friday afternoon at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex.
After a scoreless first half, Nicole Kowalewski scored in the third quarter off of a deflection that snuck past Stonehill goalkeeper Isabelle Morton.
Martha Barratt would add an insurance goal in the fourth quarter to make it 2-0. Eloise Penty and Emily Chisholm added assists on the play.
Saylor Kuefler would score twice in two and half minutes to help push the Black Bears to the finish line.
Annabel Halkes made 1 save in the cage for the Black Bears for her first collegiate shutout.
