Kowalewski, Kuefler, Penty named America East Field Hockey Preseason All-Conference

BOSTON -- Nicole Kowalewski, Saylor Kuefler, and Eloise Penty were named to the America East Field Hockey Preseason All-Conference Team on Tuesday. The Black Bears were picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll, as voted on by the coaches.
Vermont and UAlbany tied for first in the preseason poll with 21 votes. The Catamounts added three first-place votes while UAlbany earned one. UMass Lowell was selected third with a pair of first-place votes, followed by Maine with 13 votes. New Hampshire (11) and Bryant (8) rounded out the six team field.
Kowalewski had a stellar freshman season a year ago for the Black Bears, starting all 19 games at back while producing four goals and a pair of assists for 10 points. Kuefler tied for Maine's lead in scoring with 22 points as she finished the campaign with six goals and a team-high 10 assists. Penty matched Kuefler with 22 points with eight goals, six being off the penalty stroke, and six assists.
Maine officially opens the season when it hosts Liberty on Aug. 28 at 12 p.m.
