Orono, Maine -- The America East Conference announced on Tuesday morning that
Jack Donlin and
Troy Carpenter of the University of Maine baseball program were named the Pitcher and Rookie of the Week in the America East, respectively.
Donlin, a sophomore out of Cazenovia, N.Y., pitched two shutout innings in relief against Duke, highlighted by his first career save on Friday night in the 4-3 win over the Blue Devils in a nine-inning contest. After hitting the first batter he faced, he proceeded to strike out the next three batters in order for the save. He followed up the outing by striking out another batter in a scoreless eighth inning against Duke in game four of the weekend series.
Carpenter, a freshmen out of Kathleen, GA., slashed .308/.438/.538 with a .976 OPS in four games against the Blue Devils. He hit his first collegiate home run in his first game of his career on Friday. He added a second RBI later in the contest and then proceeded to collect another two hits on the weekend, one in game two and one in game four.
