Orono, Maine – The University of Maine baseball program picked up their first home win of the season on Friday night against Bryant.
First Pitch – 5 PM – 11-5 Black Bears
Scoring Plays:
Brody Rasmussen tied the game up at one aside in the second inning on an infield single to the shortstop, bringing home
Shane Andrus (BB).
Nic Pepe gave the Black Bears the lead in the same frame as he hit a sac fly to center field, scoring
Jack Quigley (HBP).
Maine score four runs in the third inning, started off by
Hunter St. Denis plating a pair of runs on a double in the right center gap, scoring both
Troy Carpenter (BB) and
Juju Stevens (1B).

Shane Andrus (1B) before
Chris Bear hit a single to left field to score St. Denis (2B).
Stevens brought home Murphy (1B) on a sac bunt to the pitcher in the fourth inning.
Rasmussen drove in his second run of the day in the seventh inning as he single home
Chris Bear (2B).
Stevens in the eighth inning hit a triple to right center before scoring on a bad throw in by the right fielder.
Bear capped off the scoring with a two-run double to right center that plated both Andrus (BB) and St. Denis (1B).
Pitching Breakdown:
Gianni Gambardella (3-3) went six innings in the win, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits, three walks and striking out six.
Sebastian Holt (2) went three innings for the save, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk while striking out four batters.
Next Time Out:
The Black Bears (6-22) wrap up the weekend series against Bryant on Saturday, April 4. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM.
