Lowell, MA – The University of Maine baseball program battled back from down four runs to take the final game of the series at UMass Lowell and win their first series of the season.

Scoring Plays:
Rex Hauser (E6) and
Christopher Mondesir (BB) both came into score in the third inning on a pair of throwing errors committed on a bunt single by
Brody Rasmussen.
Rex Hauser singled home
Juju Stevens (1B) in the sixth inning for the Black Bears third run of the day.
Shane Andrus made it a one-run game as he drove in
Nic Pepe (BB) and
Quinn Murphy (1B) on a single to left field.
The Black Bears took their first lead of the day in a big way in the ninth inning as they put up five runs in the frame, starting off with an RBI double by
Troy Carpenter to score
Chris Bear (PR).
Stevens would bring home a pair of runs in the form of Murphy (BB) and Carpenter (2B) before
Hunter St. Denis add the fourth run of the frame with an RBI single to right field, scoring
Jack Quigley (PR).
Brody Rasmussen drew a bases loaded walk to score Stevens (1B) and cap off the five-run inning.
Pitching Breakdown:
Vaun Larisa went five innings in the start, allowing six runs on eight hits, three walks and striking out two.
Pierce Friedman (1-0) picked up the win in relief as he turned in his best performance as a Black Bear, allowing no runs on a pair of walks, no hits and striking out four batters in four innings of work.

The Black Bears (5-20) head to Boston College for a single game on Tuesday, March 31. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM.
