Lowell, MA – The University of Maine baseball program took down UMass Lowell in the second game of the series, 9-5.
First Pitch – 1 PM – 9-5 Maine
Scoring Plays:
Juju Stevens got the Black Bears on the board first in the second inning with an RBI triple to right field, scoring
Shane Andrus (1B). One batter later Stevens came into score on a sac-fly by
Rex Hauser to center field.
Andrus (BB) scored again in the third inning as he came into score on an E5.
Quinn Murphy brought home
Drew Reynolds (1B) in the fourth inning on a double down the left field line before
Troy Carpenter brought home two more runs on a single up the middle, plating both
Nic Pepe (BB) and Murphy (2B).
Maine scored their seventh and eighth as
Hunter St. Denis drove in Stevens (1B) on a double to center field before Reynolds brought him home on a single down the right field line.
Pepe capped off the scoring on the day with a sac bunt to bring home
Jack Quigley (WP/SB) in the ninth inning.
Pitching Breakdown:
Gianni Gambardella (2-3) picked up his second win of the season as he went seven innings, allowing four runs on five hits, five walks and striking out four.
Sebastian Holt pitched an inning in relief, allowing no runs on a hit and a walk.
Brennan Rumpf wrapped up the game in the ninth, allowing a run on two hits and a walk.
