Orono, ME -- The 2025 Northeast Delta Dental America East Baseball Tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, May 21 as the Black Bears host UAlbany in a win-or-go-home contest.

Preview of the Black Bears:
- Maine enters the tournament as the #4 seed following a record of 20-30 in the regular season and 13-11 in conference play.
- In conference games, Maine concluded the season with the lowest Team ERA at 4.55, led by Caleb Leys and Sebastian Holt. Maine ended tied for the America East lead with 198 strikeouts as a team.
- Leys had the lowest ERA (1.10), fourth-lowest batting average against (.224) and fourth-most strikeouts (50) in his eight starts. His 2.44 ERA overall was the lowest in the conference by over one run a game (2.44-3.67).
- Holt lead the America East in total saves as he had 7 in his 21 appearances on the season.
- In conference games, the Black Bears had the second-highest team batting average (.309), second-most doubles (49) and the best fielding percentage (.976%) as a team.
- Myles Sargent paced the Black Bears in almost every category as he slashed .335/.394/.553 with 7 home runs and 40 RBIs on the season. He hit a team-best .397 in 21 conference games, driving in 29 runs.
- Evan Menzel and Aidan Bardi found themselves in the middle of the Black Bear order by the midpoint of the season as the both slashed north of .300 and had an on-base percentage above .440. Menzel led the Black bears with a .354 batting average.
- Brody Rasmussen and Damon Gaither both concluded the season hitting .300 or better as they combined for 88 hits, 13 home runs and 55 RBIs in their first seasons as Black Bears.
A Look at the Great Danes:
- UAlbany enters the America East Tournament as the #5 seed with a 20-30 record and 10-14 record in conference games.
- They ranked fourth in ERA (5.75), fourth in strikeouts (171), sixth in batting average (.257) and tied for fifth in runs scored (132).
- Ryan Ferremi and Levi McAllister led the Great Danes in nearly every offensive category. Ferremi led the team in batting average (.292), doubles (13), triples (5), on-base percentage (.433) and hits (54), while McAllister led in home runs (8), RBIs (48) and SLG% (.545).
- Dylan Banner was the leader of the clubhouse on the pitching side for the Great Danes as he had the lowest ERA among qualified starters (3.67), lowest WHIP (1.18), most strikeouts (63), most innings pitched (88.1) and lowest batting average against (.272).
What's at Stake:
The winner of the contest will avoid elimination and square off against either #1 Bryant or #2 Binghamton on Thursday, May 22. The opening day of the tournament is single elimination before changing to double elimination on Thursday. #3 NJIT and #6 UMBC will play the second game on Wednesday.
