Orono, ME - The America East Conference announced on Tuesday afternoon that four Black Bears on the University of Maine baseball program earned All-Conference honors. Those honored were:
Jeremiah Jenkins,
Gianni Gambardella,
Jake Marquez and
Jason Krieger.
Jenkins, a junior out of Upper Marlboro, MD, found himself for the third time in three years being named to an America East All-Conference Team as he earned All-Conference First Team honors for the second-straight season. He had the third best batting average (.341) in the conference to go along with the highest slugging % (.762), fourth best on-base % (.451), the third most runs scored (47), fourth most RBI (50) and the most home runs (22) during the 2024 regular season. It is the second-straight year Jenkins led the America East in slugging % and home runs.
Gambardella, a sophomore out of West Haven, CT, earned his second-straight All-Conference Team selection. He earned a spot on the second-team as he had the second-lowest ERA in conference only games (1.96), second-lowest batting average against (.179) as he allowed only 5 earned runs in 23 innings pitched.
Marquez, a senior out of Miami, Fla., had his best season as a Black Bear in his final year, playing three positions (3B, SS, 2B), he earned a spot on the second-team as a utility player. He had the 15th most RBI in the America East (34) as he slashed .280/.360/.473 and was one of two Black Bears to appear in every game on the season. He also had a team-high 32 game on-base streak as he only failed to reach base in four games during the 2024 season.Â
Krieger, a freshmen out of Red Lion, PA, had a very successful first season as a Black Bear as he sported the lowest ERA (5.26) on the team, which was the 11th lowest in the America East. He had the 13th lowest batting average against (.267), pitched the seventh most innings (65.0), had the eighth most strikeouts (54) and had the most strikeouts looking (21) in the conference.
