Orono, Maine – The University of Maine baseball program completed the weekend sweep of UAlbany on Saturday afternoon.
First Pitch – 1 PM – 11-6 Black Bears
Scoring Plays:
Hunter St. Denis got the Black Bears on the board in the first frame as he hit a two-run home run to right field, scoring
Nic Pepe (BB). The home run was his 10
th of the season.
Juju Stevens cleared the bases with a three-run double to left field in the second inning, scoring
Quinn Murphy (BB),
Chris Bear (BB) and Pepe (BB).
Albert De La Rosa brought in the go-ahead in the seventh inning as he drew a bases loaded walk, scoring St. Denis (BB).
Quinn Murphy hit the second, bases-clearing double of the day for the Black Bears in the seventh inning.
Troy Carpenter (BB), St. Denis (BB) and De La Rosa (BB) scored on the play.
Pepe capped off the six-run frame for Maine as he singled home a pair of runs in the form of
Jack Quigley (BB) and Bear (HBP).
Pitching Breakdown:
Thomas Stabley went three innings in the start, allowing four runs on seven hits, one walk and three strikeouts.
Tommy Martin threw two and 2/3 innings in relief, allowing one run on five hits, one walk and one strikeout.
Brennan Rumpf (2-1) picked up the win in relief as he threw two and a 1/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits, one walk and a strikeout.
Sebastian Holt pitched the final inning, allowing no runs on one hit in the frame.
Next Time Out:
The Black Bears concluded the regular season with a 21-30 record and a 14-10 record in conference play. They are scheduled to take on UAlbany in the second game of the opening day of the America East Tournament on Wednesday, May 20. First pitch will be no earlier than 5 PM.
