Orono, Maine – The University of Maine baseball program defeated UAlbany via mercy rule to kick off their weekend series on Thursday afternoon.

Scoring Plays:
Juju Stevens got the Black Bears on the board in the first frame as he hit a solo home run to right field, tying him for the team lead with 13
th home runs on the season.
Quinn Murphy made it 2-0 as he hit a solo home run to left field in the second inning, his fifth home run of the season.
Hunter St. Denis (BB) scored in the third inning on a wild pitch and run down play by the Great Danes.
Nic Pepe hit his sixth home run of the season in the fifth inning, this one being a two-run shot to right field, scoring
Chris Bear (1B).
Shane Andrus drove in the third run of the fifth inning on a sac fly to right field, scoring Stevens (1B/SB).
Albert De La Rosa kept the runs coming in the fifth inning as he hit a two-run home run to left field, scoring St. Denis (1B). The home run was his third of the season.
Troy Carpenter cleared the bases with a three-run double in the sixth inning, scoring Pepe (BB), Stevens (BB) and St. Denis (BB) on the play.
De La Rosa drove in his third run of the day on a sac fly to center field, scoring Carpenter (2B).
Pitching Breakdown:
Jason Krieger (3-6) threw the complete game in the shortened game, allowing just one run on two hits, no walks and six strikeouts.
