Box Score North Andover, MA - The University of Maine baseball team was defeated in seven innings by Merrimack on Wednesday afternoon.
First Pitch: 3 P.M. (19-8 Merrimack)
First Inning: Merrimack jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a two-run home run. They plated two more runs in the frame on a double play and a wild pitch.
Second Inning: Tyler Nielsen began the second inning on the mound for Maine. Marshall Smaracko allowed 4 runs on 2 hits, 1 walk and 4 hit batters in his inning of work.
Merrimack added seven runs on a grand slam and a three-run home run in the second frame.
Third Inning: Maine got the board in the third inning in a big way as they scored six runs in the frame.
Jeremiah Jenkins got the scoring started as he hit an RBI single to center field, scoring Jonathan Gonzalez (BB). Jake Marquez followed him up with a sac-fly to left field, scoring Tyler Annis (2B).
