ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine softball team will head west this weekend for seven scheduled games in Colorado and Nebraska.
 
First up is the Colorado State Rams Invitational, March 8-11, where Maine will face Colorado State, Idaho State and Drake. The Black Bears will then travel to Nebraska for games against Nebraska and the University of Northern Colorado.
 
Both of Maine's games against Colorado State will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.

BLACK BEARS VERSUS…

• The Black Bears are 2-1 all-time against Colorado State, with all three meetings coming in Fort Collins … Maine won the first-ever meeting, 3-2 on March 16, 2002 and got another victory, 6-5, on March 10, 2017 before falling, 5-4 on March 11, 2017.
• Maine has never played Nebraska, Drake or Northern Colorado before. 

BLACK BEAR BITS

• Maine traveled to Delaware last weekend for the Blue Hen Invitational, going 1-2 on the weekend … the Black Bears split a double header with the Blue Hens, winning 5-4 and losing 7-0, before dropping a 7-1 contest to Bucknell.
• In the victory, the Black Bears registered a season-high seven hits and Kaly Thomas picked up her first career win with 1.1 innings of no-hit relief … Kennedy Burns was 2-for-3 and scored one run while Krista Francia was 1-for-2 with two walks, one RBI and two runs scored.
• Francia and Katie Jo Moery are tied for the team lead in hits (8) and batting average (.296) … Francia has a .296/.321/.407 line while Moery is .296/.387.296.

UP NEXT

• The Black Bears will be back in action on the East Coast on Tuesday, March 19 when it plays a single game at Boston College.
