ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine softball saw its season come to an end on the second day of the America East Championship tournament on Thursday afternoon at the Pierre & Catherine Labat Softball Complex.

How it Happened

• Maine, playing as the visiting team, took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a Francesca Guerrera RBI single up the middle … the Great Danes responded in the home half to make it a 1-1 game.
• UAlbany took a 2-1 lead on an infield single in the bottom of the second.
• In the circle, Ava Zettlemoyer kept the Black Bears in striking distance by stranding three runners in the first, two in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth … Maine, though, was unable to scratch anything across and the Great Danes added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth for a 3-1 final.

Game Notes

• Maine is now 13-52 in the all-time series with UAlbany.
• Ava Zettlemoyer started, throwing 5.0 innings while allowing just three runs … she struck out three, walked four and gave up 11 hits.
• Hannah Hipwell threw 1.0 innings of hitless, scoreless relief.
• Eviana Robles and Francesca Guerrera recorded hits for Maine.
