Softball adds two transfers in Patton, Habkirk

A pitcher and a utility player make their way to Orono.

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine softball team has added two transfers to the program, as announced on Wednesday morning.
 
Utility player Madie Patton joins the Black Bears from Miami University (Ohio) while pitcher Sarah Habkirk comes to Orono by way of Folsom Lake College in California.

A pitcher out of Folsom Lake College (CCCAA) … made 22 pitching appearances this past season, starting 17, and went 9-6 with eight complete games and 102 strikeouts over 114.2 innings … posted a 3.72 ERA and 1.44 WHIP on the season … struck out 14 batters in a complete-game win over Ohlone College in January … helped lead Folsom Lake to a berth in the NorCal Regional Playoffs … also contributed at the plate, batting .429 with a .492 on-base percentage and .589 slugging percentage, adding six doubles, one home run and eight RBI in 31 games … graduated from Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Arrives at Maine after spending her first four collegiate seasons with the Miami (OH) RedHawks of the Mid-American Conference … played in 22 games this past spring, recording five hits and five runs scored … in 2025, played in 38 games and made 21 starts, batting .296 with five home runs and 14 RBI … recorded a notable three-hit performance against Northern Illinois, including a double and a homerun … delivered a pinch-hit three-run home run against Buffalo and a pinch-hit grand slam in a win over Butler … spent time at Pine Richland High School and South Lyon East High School before graduating from Talawanda High School … was team captain as a senior and earned first team all-conference honors … hit .450 with six home runs and 34 RBI in her senior prep season … also lettered in volleyball, earning Senior District 15 Division I All-Star recognition.
