Preview: Blue Hen Invitational Up Next for Maine

The Black Bears will face Bucknell, Delaware and Fairfield.

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine softball team will return to action this weekend at the Blue Hen Invitational, hosted by the University of Delaware.
 
The Black Bears will play five games at the Delaware Softball Diamond. Maine will play two games against the Blue Hens on Friday, March 1 and one game each against Bucknell and Fairfield on Saturday, March 2 before a single game against Bucknell on Sunday, March 3.
 
Both of Maine's games against Delaware will be streamed on FloSoftball.

HOW TO WATCH
  • Maine's Friday doubleheader against Delaware will be streamed on FloSoftball.
  • Maine's remaining three contests will not be available for streaming.
BLACK BEARS VERSUS…
  • Maine holds an overall mark of 9-15 against Delaware … the two former America East teams haven't met since April 1, 2001 when they split a doubleheader in Newark.
  • The Black Bears are 1-3 all-time against Bucknell … they squared off for a single game last season at a neutral site game in South Carolina, with Bucknell picking up an 8-2 win … current Black bears Gabby Papushka, and Anna Margetis registered hits in that contest.
  • Maine and Fairfield last met on March 13, 2011, with the Black Bears earning a 7-6 win in Raleigh, N.C..
ABOUT THE BLACK BEARS
  • Maine last played Feb. 16-17 at the Joan Joyce Classic at Florida Atlantic University.
  • The Black Bears dropped games to Michigan, FAU, Louisville and Seton Hall in moving to 0-8 on the season.
  • Anna Margetis led Maine hitters with a 3-for-10 weekend … Rylee Kent picked up her first career multi-hit game against Seton Hall … Krista Francia, Katie Jo Moery and Kenedee Giddens all had multi-hit weekends.
  • Francia leads Maine with a .300/.333/.300 line … her six hits lead the team.
  • Margetis and Moery have five hits each while Margetis is tied with Nora Campo for the team lead in RBI with three.
UP NEXT
  • Maine will head to Colorado and Nebraska next week.
  • The Black Bears will take part in the Colorado State Rams Invitational March 8-10, facing Idaho State, Colorado State and Drake.
  • Maine will then play a doubleheader with Northern Colorado in Bellevue, Neb. on Tuesday, March 12.
