Smithfield, RI - The University of Maine field hockey program was defeated by Bryant on Friday afternoon, 4-3 in double-overtime.
First Goal: Poppy Lambert scored her seventh goal of the season on a penalty stroke that she helped generate on a penalty corner. The goal is her 57th of her career, tying the all-time program record set by Kelly Newton.
Second Goal: Maeve Fogarty was the recipient of a great play set up by Kate Richardson (4) to knock in her second goal of the season on a point blank shot under the goalkeeper's pad.
Third Goal: Brynn Dzengelewski netted her second goal of the season on a battle in front of the net for a deflected shot sent in by Lambert (6) that she tucked into the goal.
Bryant scored three second half goals to force overtime. They scored in the '32, '49 and '56 minutes.
Bryant scored the game-winning goal in double-overtime in the '74 minute.
Notes on the Game:
- Maine outshot Bryant 18-11 in the afternoon.
- Maine generated seven more corners, winning the battle 12-5.
- Rozárie Mrázová picked up five saves in net.
- Poppy Lambert tied the program record with 57 career goals scored.
Next time out: Maine heads to Northeastern on Sunday, Oct. 20 for non-conference action. That game is scheduled to begin at Noon.
