Poppy Lambert and Chloe Walton Named to NFHCA All-Region First Team

Orono, ME - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced on Tuesday afternoon that University of Maine Back, Poppy Lambert and University of Maine Forward, Chloe Walton, were named to the All-Region First Team.

Lambert registered one of the best seasons in UMaine history as she broke the program record with 22 goals in a single season and dished out seven assists for a program tying 51 points over the 19 games played. Her 22 goals led the conference and tied her for the third most goals in the country, while leading all backs in the category by seven. She led the conference in game-winning goals with seven. Lambert also tallied five defensive saves on the season. Lambert was named the America East Defensive Player of the Year, along with All-Conference First Team honors and All-Academic Team honors.

Walton was one of the most dominant players in the country towards the end of the season as she scored nine of her 11 goals on the season over the final nine games for the Black Bears, including two goal performances against Merrimack and California in back-to-back contests. Her 11 total goals tied her for fifth in the conference. Her offensive surge helped Maine to its first perfect conference record in program history at 8-0. Walton also dished out six assists on the season. Walton was named the America East Offensive Player of the Year, along with All-Conference First Team honors.
