Men's Ice Hockey Prepares for Home and Home with Rival UNH

The series begins Friday night in Durham and concludes Saturday night in Orono.

ORONO, Maine - Maine Men's Ice Hockey travels to Durham to face UNH Friday evening at 7pm and returns home to Alfond Arena on Saturday at 7:30pm in the home-and-home rivalry series. 

A LOOK AT MAINE
Maine looks to avenge last year's 0-3-1 record to UNH in the Border Battle that comes to the forefront this weekend. Maine is coming o a Thanksgiving weekend one game matchup vs. Brown University. After a tight checking rst period, Maine stormed to a 5-1 victory. Cedric Lacroix paced the Black Bears with a career high two goals, with Blaine Byron, Cam Brown, and Rob Michel all chipping in with a goal of their own. Rob McGovern finished the night with 29 saves on 30 shots on goal.
 

SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS

Maine is coming o a 5-1 victory that saw them put to bed an 0-2-1 slide. The senior leadership for Maine has proven to be a big part of their scoring as Senior captains Blaine Byron and Cam Brown pace the team with 14 and 12 points respectively. Senior captain and defenseman Eric Schurhamer paces the defense with 6 points on the season.

Maine goaltender Rob McGovern has supplanted himself as the team's number 1 goaltender, as he has started 13 of the Black Bears rst 15 games combining for a 5-5-3 record. His ve wins on the season are more than double his total from last year. Thus far, he has compiled a .920 save percentage coupled with a 2.73 goals against average.
 

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS

New Hampshire comes into the weekend at 6-6-2 (3-1-1) and is currently tied for 4th in hockey east with 7 points. The Wildcats are led by gritty and skilled senior forward Tyler Kelleher who is currently second in the nation in scoring with 8 goals and 16 assists for a combined 24 points. New Hampshire also boasts one of the top freshmen in the country in Patrick Grasso. Through his rst 14 games as a collegiate athete, he has combined for 19 points on 11 goals and 8 assists.

UNH looks to junior goaltender Daniel Tirone to carry the load. During the 2016- 2017 campaign, Tirone has combined for a 6-4-2 record to go along with his 2.32 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.
