ORONO, Maine – University of Maine men's ice hockey defenseman Brandon Holt has been named an AHCA/CCM First Team All-American, as announced on Friday night by the American Hockey Coaches Association.

Holt's First Team All-America selection caps a senior season that also included Hockey East Best Defensive Defenseman and First Team All-Star honors. He also earned the Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award, given annually to the Hockey East player who demonstrates superior conduct and sportsmanship on and off the ice. Holt was also named a Walter Brown Award semifinalist.

The captain led Maine in scoring this season while posting career highs in goals (6), assists (26), points (32), and blocked shots (47). His 32 points marked the first 30-point season by a Maine defenseman since Ben Hutton recorded 33 in 2011-12. Holt ended his season tied for first nationally among defenders in assists and tied for fourth in points.

Holt finished his Black Bear career with 78 points in 126 games, becoming the only Hockey East defenseman over the last 20 seasons to record 75 or more career points with 40 or fewer penalty minutes. The Grand Forks, N.D. native was a Hockey East Third Team All-Star and runner-up for Hockey East Best Defensive Defenseman in 2024-25. Last week, Holt signed a one-year American Hockey League contract with the Tucson Roadrunners, the top affiliate of the NHL's Utah Mammoth.

This marks the 45th All-America selection in program history, with Holt becoming the first Black Bear defenseman to earn an All-America nod since Ben Hutton in 2014 and the first blue liner to earn First Team accolades since David Cullen in 1999.
