A Look at Maine
Maine returns to the Cross Insurance Arena to take on the ECAC and Ivy League representative Brown Bears for a one game series on Saturday Nov. 26 at 7:00 p.m.. The Black Bears currently sit at 10-2-0 against the Brown Bears, with the series dating back all the way to 1979. Maine is currently coming off a Hockey East road trip that saw the Black Bears lose and tie to the Vermont Catamounts 6-2 and 2-2 respectively.
Scouting The Black Bears
Maine is trying to get back to its winning ways this weekend as they take on Brown. They will look to senior captains
Blaine Byron and
Cam Brown to continue leading the way by sitting at 1 and 2 in overall team scoring. Senior
Eric Schurhamer has played well on the back end for the Black Bears while sophomore
Rob Michel is starting to find the back of the net scoring in each of the last two weekends.
Rob McGovern looks to continue his solid play against Brown. During the second night at Vermont he combined for 43 saves on 45 shots on goal, and currently leads the Black Bears with 4 wins.
Scouting The Bears
The Brown Bears have struggled at the start of their 2016-2017 season, seeing one win in their first 8 contests. Brown is currently coming off a weekend series that saw them travel to both Clarkson and St. Lawrence losing 3-2 and 7-2 respectively. Sam Lafferty, a Penguins draft pick, currently leads Brown in scoring with 8 points. Brown currently his 4 juniors in its top 5 scorers.
Freshmen Gavin Nieto currently sits at 0-6-0 and has seen the most time between the pipes for Brown. He currently sits at a .862 save percentage and a 4.86 goals against average. Senior goaltender Tim Ernst has seen action in three games combining for a 1-1-0 record with a .914 save percentage and a 2.21 goals against average.
