Preview: Black Bears Head to NJIT for Conference Matchup

Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine baseball program is set to head to NJIT for a three-game series beginning on Friday, April 17.

Weekly Honors -- The Black Bears continued their presence within the America East weekly honors as Hunter St. Denis earned his second America East Rookie of the Week honor. He .500 with six hits and seven runs driven in a 2-1 weekend against Northeastern and Merrimack. He joins Troy Carpenter (3x Rookie of the Week), Jack Donlin (1x Pitcher of the Week), Rex Hauser (1x Rookie of the Week) and Nic Pepe (1x Player of the Week).

Conference Leaders -- Troy Carpenter and Juju Stevens continue to remain the top of multiple offensive categories in the America East while Jason Krieger has recently climbed into the Top-10 in multiple pitching categories. Carpenter leads the America East with 32 RBI and nine home runs while Stevens is tied with him nine home runs, third in OPS with a 1.083 and fifth with a .345 batting average.

Krieger has seen his numbers increase steadily over the past few weeks as he has worked his way to 11th in the conference with a 5.26 ERA, 11th with 29 strikeouts and leads the conference with 51.1 innings pitched.

Winning Weekends -- The Black Bears have started to find their way into the win column over the past three weeks as they've taken at two games on each of the weekend series, propelling themselves up to third in the America East Conference Standings and tripling their win total on the season as a whole.

Series History -- This will be the 32nd meeting between these two programs on Friday. The Black Bears hold the all-time lead at 22-9, including taking four of the six games against the Highlanders last season.
