Box Score 2 Brookline, MA – The University of Maine baseball program split their games on Sunday, defeating Merrimack before falling to Northeastern.
First Pitch (vs Merrimack – Game One) – 11:30 AM – 10-4 Maine
Scoring Plays:
Shane Andrus opened up the game in a big way in the first inning as he hit a grand slam to left field, his second home run of the season.
Quinn Murphy (1B),
Troy Carpenter (HBP) and
Juju Stevens (1B) came into score on the play.
Hunter St. Denis brought home Maine's fifth run of the contest in the fifth inning on a single to left field, scoring Carpenter (1B).
Brody Rasmussen (1B) scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning.
Stevens kept building the Maine lead as he hit his ninth home run of the season, a solo shot to left field. The home run ties him with Carpenter for the America East lead.
Maine capped off their scoring in the ninth inning as St. Denis drove in Carpenter (E6) and Stevens (1B) before

Pitching Breakdown:
Gianni Gambardella (4-3) turned in his best performance of the season as he fired off six shutout innings of work in the win, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out four batters.
Tommy Martin went two innings in relief allowing two runs on three hits.
Jack Donlin began the ninth inning on the mound, going just 2/3 of the inning, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks.
Brennan Rumpf recorded the final out of the game, allowing no base runners and striking out the lone batter he faced.

Scoring Plays:
Nolan DeAndrade got the Black Bears on the board in the third inning as he hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot to left field.
Christopher Mondesir (2B) scored on the play.
DeAndrade added onto his big day with an RBI double in the fifth inning, driving in Mondesir (1B).
Nic Pepe tied the game up at 4-4 in the frame with an RBI down of his own down the right field line, scoring DeAndrade (2B).
Pitching Breakdown:
Vaun Larisa went four innings in the start, allowing four runs on five hits, two walks and a strikeout.
Thomas Stabley (0-3) took the loss out of the bullpen as he allowed six runs on eight hits and a strikeout.
Sebastian Holt pitched the seventh inning, allowing three runs on four hits.
Owen Wheeler pitched the eighth inning, allowing no runs on three walks and a strikeout.
