Orono, Maine -- The America East Conference announced on Tuesday morning that Troy Carpenter of the University of Maine baseball program has been named the Rookie of the Week for his performances against Navy and UMBC.

Carpenter, a freshmen out of Kathleen, GA, had his best week of his young career as he slashed .400/.500/1.400 with 12 RBI, four home runs and four runs scored. He began his week with a 3-for-5 day where he hit a double, a triple and a home run with four RBI. He followed it up with a grand slam against UMBC on Friday before going 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a solo home run in the 4-3 victory over UMBC on Sunday.

The weekly award was his third of the season and sixth award for the Black Bears, having won the award in both week one and week two.
