Baltimore, MD – The University of Maine baseball program picked up their first conference win of the season as they took down UMBC on Sunday afternoon, 4-3.

Scoring Plays:
Troy Carpenter got the Black Bears on the board in the third inning with his second home run of the series and eighth of the season, a three-run shot to right field.
Rex Hauser (1B) and
Shane Andrus (E4) scored on the play.
Carpenter hit his second home run of the day and third of the series to give the Black Bears the lead in the top of the ninth inning, a solo shot to left field.
Pitching Breakdown:
Gianni Gambardella went six innings in the start, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits, five walks and striking out one.
Tommy Martin (1-2) picked up the win in relief as he allowed one run on three hits and two walks in three innings of relief.
Next Time Out:
The Black Bears (3-19) return to Orono for their home opener against UMass Lowell on Friday, March 27. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM.
