Preview: Maine hosts Lindenwood to close fall semester

Maine will host Lindenwood on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 14.

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine men's ice hockey team will close out the first semester with a pair of home games against the Lindenwood Lions on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 14 at Alfond Arena.
 
Puck drop on Saturday is set for 6:30 p.m. while Sunday's tilt is slated for a 4 p.m. start. Both non-conference contests will stream on ESPN+, with an international stream available via Hockey East/Stretch Internet. The games can also be listened to via 92.9 FM or online at GoBlackBears.com/MIHRadio.
 
During the first intermission of Saturday's game, the Black Bears will be holding a Teddy Bear Toss. Following Sunday's contest, fans are invited to attend the annual Skate with the Bears event.

WHAT'S ON TAP
• The University of Maine men's ice hockey team will close out the first semester this weekend when it hosts Lindenwood at Alfond Arena on Saturday and Sunday,
• Maine played on Wednesday night, earning a 5-4 overtime victory over UMass Lowell in a neutral contest in Portland ... the Black Bears played two games last weekend, falling twice to New Hampshire at Alfond Arena.
• Lindenwood was off last weekend, having last played Nov. 28-29 at home when it split a two-game series with LIU, winning 5-2 and falling 5-2.

• Move the Black Bears to 10-7-1 on the year.
• Give Maine a 1-0-0 record in the all-time series with Lindenwood.

• Saturday marks the first-ever meeting between Maine and Lindenwood.
 
IT'S WORTH NOTING
• With Josh Nadeau (10-3-13) and Justin Poirier (13-7-20), Maine is one of three schools in the country and the only school in Hockey East to have two double-digit goal scorers.
• Maine has five first-year skaters with more than five points each, tied with Merrimack for the most in Hockey East.
• Brandon Holt is third in active career scoring by a Hockey East defender, totaling 61 points on 15 goals and 46 assists.
• Earlier this season, Justin Poirier became one of just three Hockey East rookies since 2005-06 to score nine goals in their first 10 career games.
• Josh Nadeau's 87 points in his first 89 career games trails only Gustav Nyquist's 108 points among Maine players in their first 89 career games since the 2002-03 season.
• Since Maine was ranked in both national polls on Oct. 30, 2023, the Black Bears have been ranked in 60 consecutive polls for the longest stretch for the program since an 84-week stretch from Dec. 3, 2001 to Jan. 3, 2005.
• Maine has outshot the opponent in 72 of 92 contests dating back to the start of the 2023-24 season.

• Maine will return to action in 2026, heading to Denver to face the Pioneers on Jan. 2 and 3.
