Box Score DeLand, FL - The University of Maine baseball team was defeated by Stetson on a rain delayed Friday night contest in eight innings, 12-2.
First Pitch: 8:10 P.M. (12-2 Stetson - 8 Innings)
First Inning: Stetson plated three runs on a two-run triple and an RBI double.
Fourth Inning: Stetson hit a solo home run in the frame to increase the lead to 4-0.
Fifth Inning: Blaine Cockburn was called on to begin the fifth inning on the mound for Maine. Gianni Gambardella went 4 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits, 4 walks and striking out 6.
Stetson plated four runs in the bottom of the frame.
Sixth Inning: Owen Wheeler began the sixth inning on the mound for the Black Bears. Cockburn allowed 4 runs on 1 hit, 6 walks and 1 strikeout in his 1 inning of work.
Seventh Inning: Stetson added one run on a fielder's choice.
Eighth Inning: Maine broke through in the scoring column in the eighth inning as Jeremiah Jenkins hit an RBI double to right field, scoring Jake Marquez (1B/SB).
Will Burns recorded his first collegiate hit in his first collegiate at-bat as he hit a pinch hit, RBI double to right field, scoring Jenkins (2B).
Stetson responded with a two-run home run in the bottom of the frame and an RBI double to end the contest in eight frames.
