Orono, ME - The University of Maine field hockey program shutout New Hampshire on Friday afternoon in the regular season finale for the Black Bears. Maine clinched the 3-seed in the America East Tournament with the win.
First Goal: Saylor Kuefler got the Black Bears on the board first as she received the ball from
Kate Richardson (5) and hit her shot up and over the Wildcats goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the season.
Second Goal: Eloise Penty netted her first collegiate goal of her career as she tipped in a penalty corner pass from
Alexandra Sacker (5) who recieved the ball from
Victoria Tinghitella (6) for the score.
Notes on the Game:
- Jayde Temby picked up her first solo shutout of the season as she had five saves in the victory.
- Maine outshot UNH 19-6 on the afternoon, including a 10-2 advantage in the second half.
- Maine generated seven more corners than UNH, winning the battle 11-4.
- Eloise Penty was the 11th different Black Bear on the season to score a goal.
- Maine's five shutouts in the regular season are their most since the 2018 season.
Next Time Out: Maine will face an opponent to-be-named in the Quarterfinal Round of the America East Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 11 AM at the University of Albany.
