Box Score Lowell, MA – The University of Maine baseball team took game one of the Friday doubleheader against UMass Lowell, 8-4 in seven innings.
 
Third Inning: Jeremiah Jenkins got the Black Bears on the board first as he hit a double to right field, scoring Quinn McDaniel (HBP).
 
Dylan McNary made it 2-0 Black Bears as he brought home Jenkins (2B) on a groundout to second base.
 
Gerry Siracusa tied the contest up at 2-2 as he doubled home a pair of runs in the third inning.
 
Fifth Inning: Colin Plante broke open the game in the biggest way possible as he hit a grand slam to right field, scoring Jeremiah Jenkins (1B), Nick White (BB) and Jeff Mejia (BB). The home run was his second home run of the season.
 
Jacob Humphrey got two runs back for the River Hawks as he hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
 
Sixth Inning: Miles Cota began the sixth inning on the mound for UMass Lowell. Matt Draper allowed 6 runs across 5 innings of work. He allowed 7 hits, 3 walks, 1 hit batter and struck out 3.
 
Connor Goodman welcomed the new arm to the game as he plated a pair of runs on a single up the middle. Jake Marquez (1B) and Quinn McDaniel (1B/SB) scored on the play.
 
Justin Baeyens began the sixth inning on the mound for Maine. Colin Fitzgerald allowed 4 runs across 5 innings of work. He allowed 3 hits, 4 walks and he struck out 6.
