ORONO, ME – The America East Conference announced on Tuesday afternoon that
Poppy Lambert and
Mia Borley were named the conferences Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Play of the Week for their performances in the opening weekend of conference play.
Lambert, a native of Greytown, Zealand, earned the conference's Offensive Player of the Week honors as she was dominate on the 2-0 weekend for the Black Bears. She scored two goals and dished out an assist in the 5-1 victory over UNH. She followed up her great performance with another goal, a penalty stroke score to force overtime, in the 2-1 shootout victory over UAlbany.
Borley, a native of Durham, England, earned the conference's defensive Player of the Week honors as she put together a stellar weekend in net for the Black Bears. She went 2-0 on the weekend with a five-save, one goal against win over UNH on Friday. She followed up her performance with a fantastic 14-save, one goal against win against UAlbany on Sunday.
Maine, who has run their win-streak to five games, is set to take on UMass Lowell in a road conference matchup on Friday, Sep. 30 before returning home on Sunday, Oct. 2 to face off against Merrimack.
