ORONO, ME – The University of Maine moved to 4-0 in America East play with a win over California on Friday afternoon, 4-3.

Maine got the scoring going early as just 33 seconds into the contest
Chloe Walton found the back of the net on a quick feed in front by
Tereza Holubcova (8). For Walton, the score was her fifth of the season.

Caoimhe Bryne got the score tied up at 1-1 as she netted her first score of the season off of a blocked shot in front of the net that she picked up and scored.

Kiki Bruijne got the lead for California later on in the opening period as she scored her third of the season on a breakaway opportunity.

Poppy Lambert tied the contest up at 2-2 as she scored her 12
th goal of the season as she netted the penalty stroke drawn by
Chloe Walton.

Sara Stone broke the tie up late in the third period as she scored her fourth of the season on a shot from just inside the circle.

Poppy Lambert tied the game up just 31 seconds into the fourth period as she scored her second of the game, 13
th of the season on the penalty corner for the Black Bears.
Madisyn Hartley (11) and
Tereza Holubcova (9) picked up the assists.

Chloe Walton would win it for the Black Bears as she scored her second of the contest, sixth of the season as she fired a shot into the upper corner of the net for the eventual game-winning strike.

Mia Borley was solid in net for the Black Bears, turning away seven of the 10 shots she faced in the contest.

Maine (9-3, 4-0) heads on the road as they face off against Providence on Sunday, Oct. 9 in a non-conference matchup. That game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 P.M.
