Field Hockey Wraps up Regular Season with a Perfect 8-0 Record in Conference Play

Poppy Lambert Scored Three Times, Tying her for the Program Record of 21 in a Season

Orono, ME – The University of Maine field hockey team wrapped up the regular season with a win over the UC Davis Aggies on Sunday afternoon, 6-2.
 
Tereza Holubcova got the Black Bears going early in the second period as she made a pair of moves on the endline before putting the ball into the back of the net. The score was her third of the season. Chloe Walton (6) picked up the assist on the score.
 
Lizzy Tedrow tied up the contest at 1-1 as she scored her fourth goal of the season on the penalty corner opportunity. Karly Redman (2) and Shannon Lackey (1) picked up the assists on the score.
 
Bhreagh Kennedy would grab the lead back for Maine as she gathered in the rebound on the Poppy Lambert (7) shot off of the penalty corner. Sydney Meader (6) picked up an assist on the play as she cleared the Lambert shot over to Kennedy.
 
Poppy Lambert would make it a 3-1 contest before halftime as she scored her 19th goal of the season on the penalty corner chance. Tereza Holubcova (13) picked up the assist on the play.
 
Poppy Lambert would keep her good game going as she scored her 20th goal of the season on a penalty corner chance for the Black Bears. Madisyn Hartley (17) and Tereza Holubcova (14) picked up the assists.
 
Chloe Walton would make good on a great set up by Zoe Furber (1) as she scored her 11th goal of the season.
 
Poppy Lambert would make it a hat-trick later in the third quarter as she cashed in a on penalty stroke. With that score, Poppy Lambert tied the program record with 21 goals in a single season.
 
UC Davis would find the back of the net late in the fourth quarter as Izzy Porce scored her first goal of the season on an assist by Lizzy Tedrow (5).
 
Mia Borley (2 saves – 1 goal against) and Mallory Drayer (1 save – 1 goal against) combined to pick up the win for the Black Bears.
 
Maine (14-4, 8-0 America East) will next be in action in the America East Tournament as they will be the 1-seed. Their first game is scheduled for 12:00 P.M. on Friday, Nov. 4 against the winner of Vermont-Stanford.
