ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's Ice Hockey Team is set to begin the 2021-22 season with a non-conference road game at Quinnipiac on Friday, Sept. 24 at 6:00 P.M. and Saturday, Sept. 25 at 3:00 P.M.
For the Black Bears, they are being led by top returning goal scorer and points leader from a season ago,
Ida Kuoppala. Kuoppala led all Black Bears with 10 goals and 15 points during the shortened 2020-21 season.
Rahel Enzler (9 points),
Celine Tedenby (6 points) and
Elise Morphy (6 points) are among the top returners from a season ago.
The Black Bears are also returning 2020-21 Goaltender of the Year Finalist,Â
Loryn Porter. Porter, who is coming off a career year, show cased her skills to a tune of a .954 save percentage, a 1.49 goals against average, a shutout and a 8-9-1 record as Maine went on the face off against Providence in the Hockey East Semifinals.
For Quinnipiac, they are led by top returners Lezie Adzija (18 points) and Country Vorster (10 points) during the 2020-21 season. The Bobcats are represented in net by the Tandem of Logan Angers and Catie Boudiette, who combined for a 10-6-0 record.
The Black Bears are 6-13-1 all-time against the Bobcats, but have had their number in recent years, going 3-1 over the previous four contests against the non-conference opponent.
