ORONO, Maine - It was announced on Wednesday that
Ida Kuoppala was named the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association Rookie of the Month for her performance in the month of February.
Kuoppala, a native of Pedersore, Finland, was also named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. She was one of two unanimous selections to the the team.
She led all Hockey East rookies in goals (5), points (9), points per game (1.12), shots on goal (44), and shots on goal per game (5.50) for the month of February. She recorded at least one point in seven of the teams eighth games in the month, including her two-point performance that saw her score the game-winning goal in double overtime to lift Maine over Boston University on the road.
Kuoppala and the rest of the Black Bears will be heading to Merrimack College for the Hockey East semifinals, where they will meet up against Northeastern on Saturday, March 7 at noon.
