Preview: Maine faces Harvard for two non-conference road games

ORONO, ME - The Maine women's ice hockey team travels to Harvard University for two non-conference games on Nov 28/29 at Bright Landry Hockey Center. Both games are set for 3:00 PM and will air on ESPN+.

BLACK BEARS' LAST TIME OUT:

MAINE BY THE NUMBERS 

  • This weekend was Maine's 7th and 8th games against a ranked team this year. The team has had the 8th hardest schedule of 45 teams so far this season.
  • Kiia Lahtinen is fourth the nation in saves with 462, and holds a .926 save %
  • Maine is 2nd in the nation on the Penalty Kill with a 92.3%.
  • Maine is 7th in the nation in blocked shots with 248. Sophomore Kendall Sundby leads the team with 30.

  • The overall series record is 2-9-0 in favor of Harvard, however, that was back in the 90's when the teams played more regularly. 
  • Dating back from 1998-2004, Harvard won 9 times.

  • Most recently, Maine beat Harvard last season 3-2 in overtime.
  • Last season, Julia Bachetti played in goal making 20 saves in the win.

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON:

  • Last weekend Harvard upset #10 Yale on Friday and lost to #13 Brown in OT on Saturday. 
  • Angelica Megdanis leads the team in points with 6 (3g, 3a). 
  • Rookie Morgan McGathey scored three goals last weekend as she's now second in points with 5. 
  • Harvard's penalty kill is sixth in the nation, while their powerplay is 0%, last in the nation.
  • The trio of goalies have all split time so far this season as Emily Davidson leads the pack with a 1.50 GAA and .949 sv %. Davidson has three of the five wins this season.
