Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Hanson's OT winner leads Maine past Harvard

Boston, MA - The Maine women's ice hockey team defeated Harvard in overtime on Friday at Bright Landry Hockey Center. Gracie Hanson scored the game-winning goal three minutes into the overtime period to secure Maine's 4-3 win. 

After a scoreless first period, Raegan Wurm opened the scoring for the Black Bears a few minutes into the second period. The second period came with a tip-in goal by Mackenzie Podewell as well as a powerplay goal by Lily Fetch.

Danielle Brunette, Lulu Rucinski, Stephanie Jacob, Paige Fong, Brenna Curl and Raegan Wurm each had one assist.

Harvard scored with 20 seconds left in the game on a powerplay opportunity to push in the game into overtime before Gracie Hanson ended the game for the Black Bears.

  • Maine had nine different players notch a point in the win.
  • Maine was 1/4 on the powerplay and 1/2 on the penalty kill.
  • Kiia Lahtinen started her 16th straight game leading Maine to their fifth win this season.
  • Lahtinen made 22 saves on 25 shots faced. 
  • Maine outshot Harvard 31-25. Lulu Rucinski had the game-high of five shots on goal.
  • Raegan Wurm led the Black Bears with two points and took three shots on goal.
