Maine loses tight game to #8 Northeastern, 2-1

ORONO, MAINE - The Maine women's ice hockey team lost a tight matchup to the #8 Northeastern Huskies on Saturday at Alfond Arena, 2 to 1.

The Black Bears held the lead until about the halfway point in the game when Northeastern tied it up. Late in the second period, the Huskies notched a second goal to take the lead. The third period went scoreless with the game ending in favor of the Huskies.

  • Kiia Lahtinen made 32/34 saves for a .941 save percentage. 
  • Shots on goal were 34-31 in favor of Northeastern. Mikayla Boarder led Maine with five.
  • Maine was 0/5 on the powerplay and 4/4 on the penalty kill. 
  • Maine had 18 blocked shots, led by Sade Sandilands who had four.
