ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team (5-9-3) hosts American International College (3-6-6) for a two-game weekend series beginning on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. The two teams will conclude the series on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Following Saturday's game, Domino's and Dunkin Donuts are proud to bring to you Maine Ice Hockey's annual "Skate with the Bears" night of fun and food all on the ice alongside your favorite Black Bears! Fans will have the opportunity to watch their Black Bears take on American International College (AIC) at 5:30 p.m. before joining the team on the ice for more skating and fun-filled interactions!
This popular family event is a great opportunity for fans of all ages to meet the players and have their pictures taken. Pick up a free player autograph sheet and gather as many autographs as you can. Domino's will have free pizza for everyone and hot cocoa, coffee and donuts will be provided by your local Dunkin'Â Donuts.Â
This event is free and open to the public. So tie up your skates, grab a camera and come Skate with the Bears!
Skate with the Bears on Dec. 10 will not require a ticket to that night's game. However, if you do plan on attending the game before the event, you will need to purchase a ticket. If you do attend the game, skates will be allowed into the arena.
A LOOK AT MAINE:
Maine looks to get back on track at Alfond Arena after stumbling against the University of New Hampshire last weekend. The home and home series against the Wildcats proved tough for the Black Bears as they fell at the Whittemore Center, 5-1, before dropping a 4-3 decision at Alfond Arena the following night. The Black Bears' penalty trouble proved costly against the Wildcats as the Black Bears only yielded seven even strength scoring chances while garnering 20 of their own. Maine looks to head into the break on a positive note against Atlantic Hockey's American International College.
The Black Bears are led in scoring by senior captains Blaine Byron (7g, 8a) and Cam Brown (3g, 11a) who look to continue their quest for 100 points. Sophomore defenseman Rob Michel has oepned up his scoring ability as he netted another in the Black Bears' 4-3 loss to the Wildcats, bringing his season total for four goals coupled with four assists on the year for eight points.
Sophomore goaltender Rob McGovern continues to be the man between the pipes for the Black Bears. Thurs far through the 2016-17 campaign, McGovern has amassed a 5-7-3 record, to go along with his .913 save percentage and 2.93 goals against average.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS:
American International College's Eric Lang man's the bench in his inaugural season for the Yellow Jackets since graduating from his alma mater in 1998. AIC has one of the most lethal freshmen classes in the country led by team leading scorer Blake Christensen who has tallied four goals and eight assists in his first 14 games.
The Yellow Jackets have also seen a freshman be their go to between the pipes. Zackarias Skog has compiled a 1-4-4 record through his first nine collegiate games to go along with a .904 save percentage and a 3.15 goals against average. Junior goaltender Alex Murray has compiled a 2-2-2 record through seven starts this season with a .907 save percentage and a 2.41 goals against average.
