Colgate opened the third period as Tyler Penner was able to squeeze the puck just through McGovern's pad and the post forty one seconds into the period cutting Maine's lead in half, 2-1. Five minutes later, Bobby McMann of Colgate was able to fire home a rebound chance from a John Snodgrass shot, tying the score at 2 heading into overtime.
