ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball team has announced the addition of Aina Real. Real will be eligible to join the Black Bears for the 2026-27 season.

Real, a 5-9 guard from Balearic Islands, Spain, attended C.D. Alcazar and has competed for CTEIB - Andratx.

Real, who has consistently competed and achieved in categories above her current age group, comes to Orono with significant basketball experience at high levels throughout Spain and Europe. She has been honored as an MVP in multiple league games and regional championships over the past five seasons and earned call-ups to regional teams to compete at the Spanish Championships in 2020-25. Real's championship pedigree has included 5v5 regional titles and U17 3x3 championships over the past four seasons.

Real, who was called up to the Spanish National 3x3 Team for both U15 and U17 competition, guided her U17 3x3 team to an international championship against Germany in 2025.
