ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball team has announced the addition of Zeina Haleem. Haleem will be eligible to join the Black Bears for the 2026-27 season.
Haleem, a 6-3 forward from Cairo, Egypt, attended Brighton British School and competed for Gezira Spot Club along with the Egypt U16 National Team.
With the National Team, Haleem averaged 8.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, and 1.2 assists. In 2025-26, during her time with Gezira Sports Club U18, Haleem excelled as she posted 18.3 points per game, 15.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.1 blocks.
Haleem was named the U20 City Championship MVP (2025-26) and was named the best power forward at the U18 National Championship during the same season. She was also honored as the U16 Afrobasket best power forward in the championship in 2025.
The U16 Arab Championship MVP in 2025, she guided her U20 team to a first place state championship showing in 2025-26 and led the U18 squad to a runner-up showing in both the 2026 and 2025 National Championship.
