Josh Nadeau of the University of Maine men's ice hockey team has signed a contract with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Lava Rocket for the 2026-27 season, as announced on Wednesday by the organization. Nadeau will join the Rockets immediately on an Amateur Tryout (ATO) for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.
Laval is the top affiliate of the National Hockey League's Montreal Canadiens.
Nadeau was named a Hockey East First Team All-Star this season, finishing the year with 30 points on 17 goals and 13 assists. He led Hockey East with 15 goals in conference play while finishing second in points with 25 (15-10-25). Nadeau, who earned a Third Team All-Star nod as a freshman, scored five power-play goals and two short-handed goals in his junior year. The St-François-de-Madawaska, New Brunswick native finished his Maine career with 104 points in 104 games, scoring 45 goals and earning 59 assists. He became the first Black Bear to record three consecutive 10-goal seasons since Joey Diamond (2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13).
