LEXINGTON, Va. --
Joey Stauss was named the Co-Most Outstanding Swimmer of the America East Championships on the fourth and final day of competition. The Black Bears finished sixth with 347 points.
Stauss won the 200-yard butterfly with a school and pool record time of 1:46.53. In total, Stauss won both the 100 and 200 butterfly events, posted three individual school records, a pool record, and helped Maine's 400-yard medley relay team to a school record time at the championships.
Matthew Bendoraitis finished seventh in the 200-yard backstroke with a final time of 1:50.47. In the prelim of the event, Bendoraitis posted a school record time of 1:49.15.
Julian Lapietra placed fifth in the 100-yard freestyle with a school-record time of 44.18 before re-breaking his own record with a time of 43.90 in his leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Noah Machristie finished ninth in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:03.46 while
Nate Teerlinck finished 13th in the event at 2:04.61.
Carter Bartolini placed 12th in the 1650-yard freestyle with a final time of 16:27.21.
Brendan Matos touched the wall 12th in the 200-yard butterfly at 1:52.53.
