Stauss sets 200 freestyle school record on day one of America East Championships

Black Bears fifth with 74 points after day one

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Joey Stauss posted a new school record time of 1:37.54 in the 200-yard freestyle on day one of the America East Championships. After one day of competition, the Black Bears sit in fifth place with 74 points.

Stauss set the new school mark as part of 800-yard freestyle relay event. Joining Stauss in the event was Noah Machristie, Calvin Comeau, and Scott Klein as the team placed fifth in the event at 6:45.43.

Maine's team of Matthew Bendoraitis, Nate Teerlinck, Stauss, and Julian Lapietra teamed up to take fifth in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:29.62.

Gray Miller led Maine on the boards, placing eighth with a score of 231.80 on the 3-meter.
