Leys selected by Tigers in Fourth Round of MLB Draft

Orono, ME -- Caleb Leys of the University of Maine baseball program was selected in the fourth round with the 129th pick overall by the Detroit Tigers in the 2025 MLB Draft on Tuesday morning.

Leys, a native of Middletown, RI, was named the America East Pitcher of the Year and an All-Conference First Team Member during the 2025 season. He had the lowest ERA (1.10), fourth-lowest batting average against (.224) and fourth-most strikeouts (50) in his eight starts conference starts and his 2.44 ERA overall was the lowest in the conference by over one run a game (2.44-3.67) during the regular season. Leys finished the 2025 campaign with the lowest ERA in the conference at a 2.69, the second-most strikeouts with 74 and he threw 67 innings.

During his time at Maine, he amassed 214 career strikeouts over 204 innings pitched. He had a 4.10 ERA, was a member of the 2022 America East All-Rookie Team and a member of the 2023 America East All-Championship Team has he fired off 8 innings in the America East Semifinals, allowing just one run and striking out 8 in helping lead the Black Bears to the America East Championship and a spot at the Coral Gables Regional.
